About Me
Hello, I’m Sarah-Jane, and my journey with Pilates began in my early 30s. At the time, I was experiencing persistent back pain and started following Pilates DVDs at home as a way to strengthen my core and manage my symptoms. The difference it made was incredible — I felt stronger, more supported, and far better able to manage my pain day to day.
That experience sparked my passion for Pilates. I truly believe it’s one of the most effective forms of movement for managing conditions, supporting rehabilitation, and providing a safe, gentle place for anyone to begin their fitness journey. Pilates helped me reconnect with my body, and now I’m dedicated to helping others experience those same benefits.
About the Class
My Pilates classes are taught in block courses during term time, allowing you to progress steadily, build confidence, and develop your technique week by week.
The classes are taught at an intermediate level, but I always provide options and adaptations for anyone who needs them. This ensures every participant can work safely and effectively at their own pace.
We regularly revisit classic favourites such as Rolling Like a Ball and Half Roll Backs, which are wonderful for spinal mobility and always enjoyed in class. I also incorporate gentle balance challenges to help improve stability and confidence.
Each block focuses on:
• Core strength and deep stabilising muscles
• Improving hip, spine and shoulder mobility
• Strengthening the muscles of the back, hips, glutes and legs
• Posture, alignment, and body awareness
• Balance and coordination
Equipment & Training Style
I enjoy incorporating a variety of equipment to enhance your workout and keep sessions engaging:
• Mini balls – great for adding challenge and improving control
• Activation bands – ideal for strengthening the legs and improving hip stability
• Light weights – perfect for building upper-body strength and supporting posture
We begin each session with the preparation phase to gently warm up the body, improve mobility, and prepare your muscles for the Pilates exercises ahead. I also like to include some functional strength training using light hand weights before the mat work section.
My Teaching Approach
My classes are friendly, supportive, and inclusive, with a calm, encouraging atmosphere. Whether you’re experienced, returning to exercise, or working with specific conditions, you’ll feel supported throughout the class.
Classes are limited to 10 people so I can offer clear demonstrations, individual corrections, and tailored adaptations throughout the session.
